Description
Lumsden Road and Cherry Lake Road provide access to the Tuolumne, most of which is located in unroaded areas. Within the Stanislaus National Forest, the River is not highly developed for recreation due to rugged terrain and few access points, yet fishing, hiking, and camping are very popular. The unique recreation feature of the Lower Tuolumne is whitewater boating.
Within the Tuolumne River Recreation Area, camping is restricted to designated sites at Lumsden Campground, Lumsden Bridge Campground and South Fork Campground
