Description
Sugarloaf Road is a fun dirt road cruiser ride in the mountains to the west of Boulder. The road systems here are passable by 4x4 and off road vehicles and make for enjoyable mountain biking as well, perfect for beginners and experienced riders alike.
Sugarloaf Road can be linked with other Forest Service roads in the area to increase or decrease mileage and time. Small mining towns such as Sunset and others dot these backcountry roadways, giving visitors here a glimpse of Colorado’s mining history.
For convenience and reducing the chance of getting lost, it is suggested riders acquire a map of the area from a local bike shop before venturing into the make-work of roadways that make up the system around Sugarloaf Road.

While riding any trail system it is a great idea to include a repair kit and first aid kit. Even though Sugarloaf Road is maintained for vehicle traffic it is still considered multi-use so expect to see off road vehicles, 4x4s and hikers. Please be considerate on the trails and understand right of way protocol.
