Stockton, set between two major thoroughfares, isn't normally noted as a tourist destination, but close to a number of big name California attractions makes for an acceptable stop-over. While in town, look for entertainment at the Children's Museum, Pixie Woods Amusement Park or at the Haggin Museum, which showcases a collection of 19th-century art.
