Description

Mountain biking in Sand Canyon, located in the Canyon of the Ancients National Monument, is a wonderful way to explore the pre-historic relics of the area whilst enjoying a desert mountain bike adventure! Riders in Sand Canyon have the opportunity to ride past many ancestral Puebloan archeological sites including restored Pueblos, built over 1200 years ago!

Sand Canyon features a mix of wide desert trail and slickrock riding through desert geology and flora. Side trails abound here, though riders should be careful to stay on only marked trail to avoid damaging the fragile soils of the area. There is a good mix of climbing and downhills throughout the ride and riders should take advantage of the shady spots along the way.
