Description
Oakland Hills' only Trail Riding Co in East Bay. Over 200 miles of trails on the Redwood Regional Park with sweeping views of the bay in one direction and the beautiful mountain ranges to the east. 1 and 2 hr. guided trail rides. A beautiful and memorable ride.
Imagine Oakland in the roaring 20's A railroad made its last stop downtown, and a community spread east all they way up into the hills. Oakland made its way as a seaport and through logging. This was a time when horses weren’t just used recreationally, but also for transportation. While young ladies came to the hills to ride for pleasure, ranchers kept horses to use for labor. Then automobiles became more commonplace, and horses weren’t needed functionally any longer. The ranches became houses, yet the stables and forests around them remained throughout the hills for equestrians. Here at Oakland Hills Trail Co, Inc., we strive to bring you back to a time when riding was as commonplace as walking your dog along a city street is today. We believe that the public should still have horseback access to our lush regional parks, which were initially preserved by and for riders. Our trail horses know their way through the winding groves of coastal live oaks, bays, eucalyptus, and redwood trees. So come on up here and step back into time for a unique urban experience, we think you’ll be glad you came.
