Description
Best run in mid-spring, the Merced River between Briceburg and Bagby is known for its large, rolling waves and boiling hydraulic. Numerous class IV rapids dot this stretch of water as the river winds through a grassy canyon, studded with oak and pine trees.
Rapids such as Split Rock (IV), Corner Pocket (IV) and Quarter Miler Rapid (IV+) are sure to please adventurous visitors. A mandatory portage of North Fork Falls, a 30+ foot waterfall, makes the trip that much more exciting.
