Continue on the dirt road until you get to a fork in the road. Stay to the right. Approximately ¼ mile farther you reach a second fork. Turn left and then go approx 1 mile to a third fork. Go to the right. Follow this until you leave the Hoopa Reservation. You’ll see a sign that says National Forest Boundary on the right and the road will be paved again. This will be 8N01. Follow 8N01 staying to the left. In approx 1 mile take a right on 10N02. This splits into three forks. Stay to the left. This will be 8N10. Follow this to the Mill Creek Lake Parking. Park and go through the big rocks to the beginning of the trail. Veer off to the right. Signs are posted for Water Dog Lake. This sign needs replaced. It has been partially burned in the forest fire. It is a good clear trail but is all uphill. It climbs steady for the whole distance 1.2 miles. At 1482 feet there is a creek that crosses the trail.
