Description
Hollywood lacks the ritz and easy wealth of Westside; and it also lacks the studios of its past. They’ve all moved elsewhere in LA. There’s still plenty to see here, though. The iconic Walk of Fame and Grauman’s Chinese Theater remain must-visits. Other interesting sites for the film-history buff include the Roosevelt Hotel and Hollywood Boulevard, and the Academy Awards play out in the Kodak Theater. You can’t visit Capital Records’ interior, but it’s a landmark, and its bright spire bleeps out "Hollywood in Morse code. Another landmark is the massive Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, the third largest cathedral in the world.
Equally landmark and massive are Museum Row and its twelve museums, of which the La Brea Tar Pits is most famous. Griffith Park dwarfs Central Park and serves as the backdrop to both the LA Zoo and the Griffith Observatory. Lastly, Melrose Avenue is the most avant-garde of LA’s shopping districts.
