Description
This trail roughly parallels Century Drive, following an historic route in places, from Elk Lake to its terminus at the Wickiup Plains Trail No. 12.1, just west of Devils Lake. Mostly in the Three Sisters Wilderness, this trail passes by several small springs and through a mix of lodgepole and mountain hemlock forest. This trail is most commonly traveled by horse users making loops into the high country along the Pacific Crest Trail No. 2000 (PCT). Hikers can make a moderate loop by using the northern portion of this trail to connect the Wickiup Plains Trail No. 12.1, Pacific Crest Trail No. 2000, and Mirror Lakes Trail No. 20. Such a loop is best begun at the Wickiup Plains Trailhead or Sisters Mirror Trailhead.
The trail enters the Three Sisters Wilderness Area shortly after leaving the trailhead. Wilderness Permits are required for both day-use and overnight travel in the Wilderness from Memorial Day Weekend until Oct. 31. Permits are available at the trailhead.
