Description
After several switchbacks, this trail opens into a beautiful valley, with views of Eagle Cap Peak. The valley floor is full of lush vegetation and a wide array of wildflowers with mountain ridges on both sides. Lost Lake, a small lake shaped like an egg, was formed from glacial activity. Be sure to take your camera as there are many opportunities for taking pictures along the way. This trail provides wildlife viewing opportunities and fishing in the lakes and streams. The trailhead has an 8 unit campground with outhouse facilities, stock water, hitch rails, unloading ramp, and picnic tables. There are many opportunities for camping along the trail.
NW Forest Passes are required at Two Pan Trailhead.
This trail is one of the more heavily used trails leading into the Lakes Basin Management Area. The trail is well maintained and is signed at the trailhead and at all main junctions. Camping is available at Mirror Lake, be sure to check the Eagle Cap Wilderness Regulations. You can also travel over the Ivan Carper Pass to Minam Lake and return on the West Fork of Lostine River Trail (#1670) to the Two Pan trailhead.
