There are a wide variety of scenic drives in Death Valley National Park, from winding routes up over mountain passes that proffer views of the shimmering desert below to unpaved roads that rattle along in a cloud of dust to salt marsh, sand dunes, old mining sites and other points of interest. Consult the map and newsletter given out at park entrance stations for current information on which routes are open and what types of vehicles are permitted on each one.
